These misperceptions lead to misunderstanding.
†I am kinder than most people would even realise is possible; yet we all project: I naively assume everyone is as kind as me and recognises the loving context for everything I say and do, while people with ill will in their hearts and an identity to prove interpret my words and actions as coming from someone like them. So they misunderstand the purpose in everything I do. And I misunderstand in the opposite direction, often being surprised when I finally discover that their entire goal was to hurt me (a motivation I really struggle to wrap my mind around).
Thank you Kassie for your good question:
What do you want to be seen as?
which inspired this post.
